Wichita Digs Deep in Moscow
At the beginning of 2005 Wichita was presented with a rare opportunity to exhibit somewhere we’d never been to before. After inviting Industrial Clutch to join us, and with a lot of quick designing, packing and booking we were ready to go to Russia!
Trevor Woodhouse, Neil Wright and Brent Bluhm travelled to the World Trade Centre in Moscow for the most important mining exhibition event in the Russian Federation, Mining World 2005. With a new venue, new events and targeted marketing campaigns to attract the most appropriate industry professionals, Mining World was a great success. It drew in hundreds to look at the products and talk to the experts.
Wichita and Industrial Clutch have now been providing separate clutches and brakes to mineral processing industries for over 40 years, which means our expertise in controlling the acceleration and deceleration of heavy duty drive systems provides the ideal solution for draglines, shovels, grinding mills, crushers, conveyors, and blasthole drills.
On show was a backplate from a Spring Set, Pneumatic release model LKB Brake (see Press Release “Wichita Shows off in Las Vegas”) This design offers a wide range of torque capacities and release pressures, with total attention given to maximizing ventilation for dissipating large thermal loads. This is a dry, disc type application, used mainly for shovels and draglines. Also on display was a model Standard Ventilated Combination Clutch-Coupling, designed for reliable in-line power transmission. It employs a simple air-tube design, with small air volume, which speeds engagement and disengagement. It is unaffected by centrifugal force and has no self-energisation like drum clutch designs. Ideally suited for large inertia loads where smooth controlled starts are needed, like ballmills.
The flexibility and design of our products helps to fulfill the many demanding requirements of minerals extraction.
